Italian "Serie A" referees probably won't need to remove the Uruguayan player from the field anymore - the former player decided to return to South America and signed a one-year contract with the Argentine club "San Lorenzo."
The 33-year-old defender arrived in Italy 13 years ago and spent four seasons in the Bergamo "Atalanta" team before moving to the Turin "Juventus" club, where he played for 9 seasons and became the country's champion five times and won many other titles during that time.
The Uruguayan player, famous for his rough play, also entered the history of "Serie A" as the player who received the most red cards, and he left the "Juventus" team this summer when his contract with the Turin club ended.
"I thank Italy for everything it has given me. After such an unparalleled experience, I return to play in South America," Montero said. "I have wanted to do this for some time now, so I have turned down offers from several European clubs. Money doesn't matter, the most important thing is that I won't have to train alone."
Montero, who represented his national team 57 times and captained it, his new club "San Lorenzo" ranked only 16th in the "Clausura" championship in the first half of the year. The second part of the "Apertura" championship in Argentina starts tomorrow, on August 5th.
