Round 2: "Marseille" crisis continues © EuroFootball.com

On Saturday, eight matches of the French "Ligue 1" championship's 2nd round were played. Two more matches from the second round will take place late on Sunday evening.

One of the most successful French clubs, "Marseille", continues to struggle. After losing to "Bordeaux" in the first round, this weekend "Marseille" once again lost to their opponents - they were defeated by "Lens" 2-0. After this failure, Marseille's team became the absolute outsider of "Ligue 1".

This round also did not go well for another famous "Ligue 1" club - "Monaco". The team from the principality, playing at home, had to admit defeat to "Auxerre" with a score of 0-2. It is worth mentioning that from the 43rd minute, "Monaco" played with ten men, as their defender Patrice Evra was shown a red card and sent off the field.

Another victory in the championship was achieved by the team from the capital, "P.S.G", who moved up to the first place in the tournament table. In this round, the players of the Parisian club defeated "Sochaux" 1-0 thanks to Edouardo Cisse's goal.

As successfully as "P.S.G", the club "Bordeaux" also plays in the championship. After sensationally defeating "Marseille" in the first round, Bordeaux's players defeated "Nancy" 1-0 in this round, and now "P.S.G" is only behind due to a worse ratio of missed and scored goals.

The championship is starting off well for the "Nice" team. The former club of Edgaras Jankauskas, in this round, defeated the "Toulouse" team 2-0, and with four points, they now take third place in the tournament table.

After finishing their match with "Ajaccio" in a 3-3 draw, the club "Lille", who finished second in the last season, lost their first points. It is worth mentioning that "Lille" scored the equalizing goal in the last seconds of the match, thanks to Mathieu Debuchy.
