On Sunday, the two remaining matches of round 2 of "Ligue 1" were played, after which the surprise championship leader became the club "Nantes."
Last season, avoiding relegation to "Ligue 2" only in the last round, this year "Nantes" seems very powerful so far and after two rounds has won two victories, leading the championship. In the first round, "Nantes" defeated the "Lens" team 2-0, and on Sunday they even crushed "Rennes," who played in the UEFA Cup, 0-3.
After this victory, "Nantes" has 6 points, the same as "Bordeaux" and "P.S.G", but due to a better goal difference, they occupy the first position.
The defending champions "Lyon" also won their second victory in the league, defeating the "Strasbourg" team at home by a minimal score of 1-0. The only goal of the match was scored by "Lyon" newcomer Norwegian John Carew in the 26th minute, who seems to slowly become the leader of "Lyon's" attacks.
