Fans of the Italian capital's AS club can now relax - today, the Court of Arbitration for Sport meeting in Lozano satisfied AS Roma's appeal regarding the ban on buying new players and temporarily suspended this punishment.
FIFA had forbidden AS Roma from acquiring new footballers for a year and even registering those already acquired after the Italian team illegally purchased French defender Philippe Mexes last season.
After this ban was announced, Roma immediately filed an appeal, but FIFA rejected it. However, the Italians did not give up and once again protested FIFA's decision, receiving a positive response - the ban is suspended until the second appeal hearing, which will take place later this year.
Now, Roma can register the acquisitions of new players Samuel Kuffour, Rodrigo Taddei, and Shabani Nonda, and continue to strengthen the team before the upcoming new Serie A season, which is just three weeks away.
