From the very first whistle of the referee, "Barcelona" dominated the field and created several dangerous episodes near "Betis" goal in the first few minutes of the game, after which Sevilla's goalkeeper A. Doblas saved the team from conceding a goal.

The first opportunity for "Betis" to score came around the 18th minute - the team's leader Joaquin managed to confuse "Barcelona" defenders, but his shot missed the goal.

At the end of the first half, the Catalan club created several chances, but "Betis" goalkeeper A. Doblas continued to play solidly. The teams went to rest with an equal score.

At the beginning of the second half, just two minutes in, "Barcelona" took the lead: Brazilian Ronaldinho made a perfect pass to L. Giuly, who broke away from the defenders and, one-on-one with A. Doblas, beat the goalkeeper with a precise shot.

Shortly after the goal, "Betis" had a good chance to equalize the score, but a header by R. Oliveira was well saved by "Barcelona" goalkeeper V. Valdes with an excellent reaction.

Meanwhile, "Barca" did not slow down and a few minutes later, receiving a precise pass from Xavi, Cameroonian S. Eto'o doubled the score.

But that was not the end. After ten minutes, another goal was scored into the "Betis" goal: "Barcelona" magician Ronaldinho scored the third goal with a beautiful penalty shot, sealing the fate of the home team.

Neither team managed to score for the rest of the game, and "Barcelona" secured the victory with a solid advantage before the second leg of the match.
