As reported by the official website of Vilnius "Vėtra" club, yesterday a contract was signed with the Georgian club WIT "Georgia" regarding the transfer of the goalkeeper who represented the national team for all years to the capital team.

The 24-year-old Merlani has been participating in the team's trials since the beginning of August, later joined by Ukrainian Sergejus Khistevas, but the latter was sent home after health and physical tests. Meanwhile, the Georgian player performed well enough and has now officially joined the ranks of the "Vėtra" team.

This step by the "Vėtra" team was influenced by the inconsistent performance of the current goalkeeper Ramūnas Merkelis. Although the team, apart from the matches against "Ekranas," conceded few goals, the team management was not satisfied with R. Merkelis's performance. Since the backup goalkeeper Arvydas Kacinkevičius is only 18 years old, "Vėtra" coach S. Borovskis has not yet given him the opportunity to play in the strongest Lithuanian championship.

The new team goalkeeper is already registered as a player of "Vėtra," and he may make his debut in the Lithuanian championship today in the 24th round "A League" match against "Kaunas."
