After long negotiations, success finally crowned - Czech Milan Baroš will now wear the team's shirt. The player, not finding a place in the club, will cost Birmingham team approximately 6.5 million pounds.
Initially, both clubs struggled to agree on the final ransom amount, although M. Baroš himself had already agreed on personal contract details. Tomorrow the Czech will have to undergo a medical examination and should sign a four-year contract.
"We have reached an agreement with Liverpool regarding the player's acquisition," said Aston Villa representative Steve Stride. "Now we just have to take the final step - undergo a medical examination. We hope to complete the transfer very soon."
European champions' coach Rafael Benitez, who has already called another striker Peter Crouch to the team, plans to acquire two more new players this summer - a central defender and a right back. Rumors in the media suggest that the defensive pillar Fernando Meira is actually the main candidate for the defender's position.
