The Italian club has decided to extend the contract with head coach Walter Novellino. Earlier, one of the club's directors stated that the coach will stay with the team, and today it was officially confirmed. Novellino's contract was originally valid until 2005, and has now been extended for two more years.
"This is recognition for all the work that has been done here. It was important to start the project, and it is great to see that we are continuing it. I want to thank everyone who believed in me," said Novellino, who previously coached Piacenza.
Sampdoria came to Serie A from a lower league last season, and this year is already competing for a place in the UEFA Cup. Currently, the club is in eighth place in the league with 42 points.
