Erik Edman moves to "Rennes"
Having started the season poorly and currently at the bottom of the league table after five rounds, last season's fourth-place finisher strengthens its defense. The French team announced today that they have signed a three-year contract with Swedish national team player and club defender Erik Edman.
The 27-year-old defender moved to "Tottenham" just last year, but failed to establish himself in the English team. Initially, it was thought that the player would be loaned to "Rennes," but to the amazement of many, the French team managed to acquire the Swedish defender outright.
"Marseille" strengthens defense
Another club that started the season tragically in "Ligue 1" is strengthening its defense. Today, the management of "Marseille" announced that the team has acquired Slovenia national team player and Dinamo Zagreb defender Bostjan Cesar. The 23-year-old player signed a four-year contract with the French club.
Initially considered one of the favorites before the start of the championship, "Marseille" has only earned two points in five rounds and has conceded 9 goals, currently sitting at the bottom of the table. It's no wonder that their management started to look for defenders.
"Marseille" initially showed interest in Bobo Balde and Ivica Dragutinovic, but after they declined to move to France, Cesaro's candidacy was chosen.
According to "Marseille" President Pape Diouf, although the transfer window closes tomorrow, Cesar might not be the last purchase of the season for the club.
Ibrahim Tall moves to Scotland
A former Hearts defender from Lithuania, Ibrahim Tall, is set to join the Edinburgh club owned by businessman Vladimir Romanov.
The 24-year-old player's contract with the "Ligue 1" club expired last season, and he has been a free agent all summer. Several French clubs, including the most prestigious French team, showed interest in the defender, but it seems he chose the offer from the currently leading Edinburgh club in the Scottish league.
Camara to represent "Nice"
Senegal national team forward Souleymane Camara will spend the next four seasons at another "Ligue 1" club.
The 22-year-old forward did not feature in the recent tactical plans of "Monaco" coach Didier Deschamps, so several clubs have been interested in him for some time. Initially linked with another club, Camara's move to "Nice" was finalized at the last minute with a better offer from the club.
It's worth noting that former Lithuanian player Edgaras Jankauskas' club has had a successful start to this year's championship after five rounds, occupying 7th place with eight points.
French national team loses two players
French national team players Jerome Rothen and Jonathan Zebina will not be able to help their team in the upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
27-year-old Rothen, representing Paris, has been suffering from a thigh injury for some time, while his Turin teammate Zebina recently suffered a leg injury.
Instead of these players, French team coach Raymond Domenech invited two "Ligue 1" champions, and , to the team.
This Saturday, the French national team will face the Faroe Islands team, followed by a tough test in Dublin, where they will be tested by the Irish team.
