In the second strongest league in Italy, Serie B, two "Lithuanian" clubs clashed on Friday - "Avellino", which has loaned striker Tomas Danilevičius, and "Brescia" with Lithuanian national team player Marius Stankevičius.
In a highly productive match, "Brescia" celebrated a convincing 5-2 victory away, taking the lead already one minute after D. Possanzini's goal. Although J.C. Leonas equalized with a penalty kick in the 16th minute, the guests regained the advantage with goals from V.H. Mareco and extended the lead with a header from D. Zoboli after M. Stankevičius' pass.
At the beginning of the second half, the Lithuanian national team defender again contributed to a goal - after his pass from the corner, the ball bounced off the ground over the defender and was precisely headed by S. Bruno. In the 56th minute, M. Stankevičius scored his fifth goal after a great combination that led him into the penalty area with a shot from 11 meters. At the end of the match, S. Panarelli scored a consolation goal for the hosts.
"Avellino", where T. Danilevičius was not registered for the match, remains with one point after three games, while "Brescia", who played twice, achieved their first victory and now have three points. In the championship, Bergamo's "Atalanta" also has two wins out of the same possible amount.
