Five matches were played on Saturday in the Scottish Premier League. The defending champions Glasgow Rangers lost another two points, this time playing a draw after being crushed in the previous round.
In the 5th round, after losing 3-0 to Hibernian, Rangers met Falkirk away and took the lead in the 39th minute with a penalty kick scored by N. Novo, but D. McBreen equalized in the 78th minute with a headed goal. Towards the end of the match, the visitors could have snatched a victory, but their goalkeeper M. Glennon saved the team.
Glasgow Celtic, who are two points behind the league leaders Edinburgh Hearts, defeated Aberdeen at home, scoring the first goal in the 13th minute through M. Zurawski, followed by an accurate pass from S. Petrov in just over an hour to double the result.
In other matches, Kilmarnock saw a dramatic home victory against Dunfermline. Although the visitors took the lead in the 4th minute with an M. Burchill goal, R. Dodds soon equalized. The visitors were ahead in the 33rd minute with K. Boyd scoring, but in the second half, D. Young equalized once again. Kilmarnock secured a win in the last minute with D. Invincibile's goal.
Edinburgh Hibernian also won at home against Dundee United, securing the same number of points as Kilmarnock and Celtic. Despite the visitors taking the lead in the 14th minute with a goal from G. Brebner, G. O'Connor equalized with a penalty kick in the 18th minute, followed by I. Sproule scoring after 20 minutes.
Motherwell achieved their first away win of the season against Inverness, coming back from being 1-0 down at the end of the first half, with goals from S. McDonald and W. Kinniburgh in the 65th and 70th minutes respectively.
