London's team will seek to extend the contract with the team captain and forward from France in the near future. Since the French national team's forward will be recovering from an injury for the next 6 weeks, London's head coach Arsene Wenger hopes to start negotiations with the club's star.
The talented T. Henry became a star of the London club just after arriving in 1999 from Turin's "Juventus" and now he is only one goal away from becoming the all-time leading scorer of "Arsenal" - Ian Wright's record of 185 goals.
One of the best forwards in the world has a contract with the club in the English capital until the end of the 2006-2007 season, but it is expected that the Frenchman will sign a new long-term contract.
"I don't know if we will have to convince him (T. Henry) to extend the contract," said A. Wenger. "Convincing means a large amount of money. Our goals are clear and I am convinced that Henry will stay. He is not chasing money. He is really not a man possessed by money."
"His dedication to the team is more important," added A. Wenger.
A. Wenger calls the injury suffered by T. Henry serious and it is expected that the Frenchman will not return to the field until mid-October.
