On Sunday, the remaining five matches of the French "Ligue 1" championship 7th round were played - title contenders "P.S.G" and "Lens" dropped points in the battle for higher places, "Auxerre", "Marseille" and "Rennes" started climbing up the table, while "Monaco" crisis continues. The other five matches were played a day earlier, on Saturday.

One of the favorites, "Monaco", suffered another defeat in the championship, this time at home against the resurging "Rennes" team with a score of 0-2. It is worth mentioning that "Monaco" ended the match with nine men, as two players S. Squillaci and A. Zikos were sent off in the second half. It is speculated that after this loss, the manager of the principality's team, D. Deschamps, should resign.

"Marseille" team is slowly recovering. After securing their first victory of the season in the previous round, Marseille's players added three more points by defeating newcomers "Troyes" with a score of 2-1. Following this win, "Marseille" now has 8 points and climbed up from the bottom of the league table.

A very struggling "Auxerre" team managed to secure a great 2-0 victory on Sunday at home against the strong "Ajaccio" team, who had a good start to the season, fought for survival in "Ligue 1" last season, and only now suffered their first loss of the season.

On the other hand, "P.S.G." lost their second place in the league, suffering a 0-3 defeat away against the undefeated "Saint-Etienne" team, thus leveling their points with them. Similarly, "Lens" also missed the opportunity to climb higher in the standings by playing a draw away against the underdog "Strasbourg" and dropping to seventh place.
