FC Barcelona defender Sergio Sanchez revealed to journalists after Sunday's match that Real Madrid star David Beckham provoked him during the game and disrespectfully slapped him after the match.
"The match was tense. I was warming up on the sidelines and at that moment D. Beckham came to take a corner. As he was getting ready to kick, I started coughing," explained Espanyol defender. "He must have misunderstood this and approached me, insulting me. After the match, as I was heading to the dressing room, he waited for me and again started insulting me and slapped me in the face."
Sunday's defeat was already the third for Real Madrid this season. Prior to that, they lost to Celta Vigo in a Spanish championship match, and later were crushed 3-0 by Lyon in the UEFA Champions League match.
