On Thursday in Kaunas, the meeting of the National Football Clubs Association (NFKA) board took place, during which it was decided not to change the system of the "A League" championship.

The meeting was attended by representatives of all ten Lithuanian A League football clubs: FBK "Kaunas" president and NFKA board chairman Gintaras Ugianskis, Vilnius "Vilnius" president Algimantas Breikštas, Vilnius "Vėtra" president Romas Stašauskas, Vilnius "Žalgiris" president Janušas Loputis, Klaipėda "Atlantas" director and head coach Vacys Lekevičius, "Šilutė" president Dainius Gricevičius, Šiauliai "Šiauliai" director Pranas Šidlauskas, Marijampolė "Sūduva" president Vidmantas Murauskas, Kėdainiai "Nevėžis" manager Saulius Skibiniauskas, and the new board member of Panevėžys "Ekranas" club Tomas Sitnikovas.

Among the attendees were also NFKA director Marijus Rimas and manager Vaidas Beneševičius.

The participants of the meeting discussed the possibility of broadcasting 2006 Lithuanian A League championship matches on one of the Lithuanian television channels. Representatives of all teams would like a part of the matches to be shown on TV. However, the board members wish that clubs would not have to pay for this. This is possible if sponsors for the broadcasts are found.

The chairman of NFKA board asked the attendees if they would agree to change the system of the A League championship - after three rounds, teams would be divided into two groups based on their results. Then in the fourth round, teams would have to play fewer matches. However, club representatives decided that there is no need to change the championship system.
