On Sunday, the last two matches of the 9th round of the French "Ligue 1" championship were played. The other eight matches took place a day earlier, on Saturday.

Another tough victory this season was achieved by the defending champions and current leaders of the championship, the "Lyon" club. The "Ligue 1" champions this time broke the resistance of the "Nantes" team away after Fred's goal in the 80th minute. It is worth mentioning that "Lyon" finished the match with ten players, as a player from the team, Lamine Diatta, was sent off in the last minute of the match for unsporting behavior. After this victory, "Lyon" is leading their closest pursuers, the "P.S.G" club, by 4 points.

In the other Sunday matches, the teams "Lens" and "Rennes" met. In case of a victory, "Lens" had the opportunity to move up to the 3rd place in the league table, but they failed to do so as the match ended in a draw. Just like in the match in Nantes, this match also saw red cards - in the 84th minute, the "Rennes" player Youssef Hadji was sent off for rough play.
