At the moment, the Vigo team, firmly leading in the Spanish "La Liga" championship, will likely have to do without the veteran player from Brazil, Everton Giovanellos, for the next two years.
The Spanish Football Federation announced that the 35-year-old footballer has been disqualified for two years for doping. Giovanella's doping test was conducted back in December 2004, and a banned substance, nandrolone, was found in the player's body.
Upon learning that traces of a banned substance were found in his body, the player immediately appealed the decision, claiming that nandrolone is naturally produced in his body. However, after conducting investigations, FIFA rejected the player's appeal and imposed a punishment on him.
Nevertheless, representatives of "Celta" hinted that they will try to postpone the player's disqualification until FIFA reviews the team's appeal.
