In the 15th minute of the match, the hosts took the lead when Vilnius striker Artūras Jeršovas sent the ball into the net after a mistake by the 17-year-old Šiauliai goalkeeper Giedrius Arlauskis. The hosts had several chances to increase the score in the first half, but they failed to do so. Šiauliai's Andrius Šidlauskas, a member of the Lithuanian youth national team, missed a great opportunity to equalize the score by running towards the goalkeeper but missing the target.

In the second half, a fierce battle continued, with both sides having chances to score, but only the visitors succeeded: in the 87th minute, experienced forward Egidijus Varnas, who came on as a substitute, leveled the score with a beautiful shot from about 20 meters.

After the match, "Šiauliai's" interim head coach, 43-year-old Saulius Vertelis, expressed satisfaction with the team's performance: "We played to a 1-1 draw away, so we earned some points."

Vertelis also mentioned that the team aims to maintain its position in the league this season and that they will try to make some changes to the team's playing style during the break. The former "Šiauliai" coach Vytas Jančiauskas, when interviewed during the halftime break, shared his thoughts on the team's performance and future prospects.

When asked about the comments from some fans accusing former coach T.Kavolis of leaving Šiauliai for "Ekranas" due to Jančiauskas' fault, the coach defended himself, stating that the decision was not based on his actions. He also mentioned instances where Kavolis was unprofessional in his approach to training, leading to conflicts.

Asked about his own plans for the future, Jančiauskas stated that he currently does not have any offers and is focused on moving forward positively.
