After the matches of the sixth round of the Spanish championship ("La Liga") played on Sunday, it became clear that the leader of the championship became the "Getafe" team, who defeated "Valencia" club 2-1 on Saturday, and the second place was taken by "Celta" from Vigo, who were previously the leaders, playing a 1-1 draw with "Cadiz" on Sunday.

In the match in Cadiz, the hosts took the lead first when Uruguayan Andreas Fleurquinas headed in a corner kick from Sesma. However, ten minutes later, the result was leveled by "Celta" Brazilian, the team's top scorer Fernando Baiano. In the rest of the match, both teams hit the goalposts once, but the result remained unchanged.

On the road, Pamplona's "Osasuna" secured a minimal victory against La Coruna's "Deportivo" with a 1-0 scoreline. The only goal was scored by Inaki Munoz in the 16th minute, and it was the first defeat of the season for La Coruna.

Playing in the UEFA Champions League, "Villarreal" secured their second home victory, defeating Athletic Bilbao from the Basque Country 3-1. Although the visitors took the lead first when Spanish national team goalkeeper Joseba Etxeberria scored in the 20th minute, Argentine Juan Roman Riquelme equalized just before halftime. In the second half, Jose Mari and Marcos Senna scored, allowing "Villarreal" to celebrate a convincing victory.

The matches between "Sevilla" and Barcelona's "Espanyol" and between San Sebastian's Real Sociedad and Seville's Betis ended in 1-1 draws. "Alaves" secured their first victory of the season with a 2-1 result against "Racing Santander" as visitors.

In Madrid, "Real" thrashed "Mallorca" 4-0 at home. The first goal into the visitors' net came in the 32nd minute - Ronaldo technically outplayed a defender and sent the ball into the net with a precise shot from about 18 meters. Towards the end of the first half, R.Carlos scored a fantastic goal - after Beckham's corner kick, the Brazilian scored the second goal in one touch from outside the penalty area.

After the break, R.Carlos scored another penalty goal, making it 3-0. In the 76th minute, Sergio Ballesteros was sent off the field for a second yellow card, and just two minutes later, J.Baptista finished off the rout with the fourth goal for Mallorca. It is worth mentioning that Z.Zidane played in this match after recovering from an injury.

After a victory against "Malaga", Madrid's "Atletico" climbed out of the bottom of the table. F.Torres and M.Kezman scored goals in the second half of the match.
