Brazilian national team and Real Madrid star Roberto Carlos denied rumors that he is planning to move to London.
Yesterday, in one of the Spanish newspapers, it was claimed that the 31-year-old Brazilian has signed a preliminary agreement with "Chelsea" owner Roman Abramovich and received a sum of 1.6 million pounds sterling (about 8.3 million litas) for it.
If such an agreement had been signed, "Real" would have to either transfer the defender to the London club this summer and receive a monetary compensation, or not receive any compensation in June 2005 when Carlos' contract with the royal club would end.
Carlos himself refuted these rumors and stated that they are speculation from the media. When asked about a possible move to "Chelsea," Carlos said: "Nothing like that. I have not spoken with "Chelsea" or any other team."
"I want to extend my contract with "Real," - said Carlos. - I don't know how to say it so that you believe me. I feel very comfortable at "Real" and I like playing here. I have already won many titles with this club and I think we can win even more."
