In the postponed 16th round of the "A Lyga" matches on Tuesday, Vilnius "Žalgiris" club met with "Šiauliai" team away, and in a closely contested match, they secured their tenth victory of the season in the league, surpassing Klaipėda's "Atlantas" in the standings and solidifying their seventh place on the tournament table.

Already in the second minute of the match, the hosts took the lead when E. Biečius scored, but midway through the first half one of the leaders of "Žalgiris" I. Morinas managed to equalize the score, and the teams went into halftime with the score level.

After playing for a little over an hour, V. Lemežis' precise strike put the "Žalgiris" in front, but "Šiauliai" responded just three minutes later with a goal from M. Krukovski and also managed to recover from the deficit.

However, the victory in the closely contested match was celebrated by the Vilnius club - after making a substitution on the field, team newcomer M. Karalius scored the third goal for his team in the 82nd minute and snatched the victory, helping "Žalgiris" not only surpass "Atlantas" but also get closer to the fifth and sixth-placed teams, "Vilnius" and "Šilutės."
