In the second most powerful "Serie B" league in Italy, postponed matches of the 3rd round of the championship were played on Wednesday. The arrival of their former coach at "Avellino" inspired T.Danilevičius to score two goals and help his team achieve the first victory, while M.Stankevičius's "Brescia" suffered a setback.
After a poor start to the season, with only two points won in seven matches, "Avellino" fired coach Francesco Oddo this week and invited former "Livorno" coach Franco Colomba to replace him, whose protege in the previous club was a striker from Lithuania.
The familiar coach seems to have helped the Lithuanian regain confidence in his abilities - in an away match against another league underdog "Catanzaro" he led his team ahead in the 18th minute after breaking into the penalty area, and then doubled the lead with a headed strike three minutes later.
Although the hosts managed to reduce the deficit with a goal in extra time, it was not enough for them, and "Avellino" celebrated their first win of the season, helping the team rise from the bottom of the tournament table.
"Brescia" had a worse luck with M.Stankevičius playing the full match - last season's "Serie A" team unexpectedly lost 0-2 at home to "Rimini" and dropped to 13th place with 10 points. After 8 rounds in the championship, "Mantova" leads with 20 points.
