Marijampolės "Sūduvos" attack leader delights his fans this season with a productive game that helped his team climb to fourth place in the "A League." The 24-year-old forward scored 20 goals in the Lithuanian championship this year and is the most prolific player in the league.
"I felt the taste of goals in the second half of the championship and I will try not to forget it," T.Radzinevičius said in an interview with the official "A League" website.
Tasting goals
- At the moment, you are the top scorer in the A League championship, overtaking Panevėžys "Ekrano" captain Mantas Savėnas by one goal. Are you determined to become the goal king this year?
- Every year I try to become one, but everything depends on opportunities. This season I am determined to fight to the end.
- Could "Ekrano" strikers Povilas Lukšys and Vitalijus Kavaliauskas still intervene in your dispute with M.Savėnas?
- Six rounds remain until the end of the Lithuanian championship. I think everything is still possible. Both of them have the opportunity to surpass us.
- You started the first half of the championship poorly. Later on, you started scoring goals much more frequently. How would you explain this?
- At the beginning, I was not in good physical shape and luck was lacking. Later, I felt the taste of goals and I try not to forget it.
Delighting the support of Marijampolė football fans
- Which goalkeeper of the Lithuanian A League teams is the hardest for you to beat?
- There is no exceptional goalkeeper. Nevertheless, this year it was most difficult to beat "Vilniaus" goalkeeper Maciejus Kijewskis.
- Which forward playing in Lithuania leaves the best impression on you?
- I don't see one forward standing out. The "Ekrano" striker M.Savėnas leaves the biggest impression on me.
- In Marijampolė, there are always many spectators. Is it much more pleasant to play at the "Sūduva" stadium than in other Lithuanian cities? Do you feel great support from fans?
- Of course, it's more pleasant. It's more fun for all teams to play on their own field, to feel the support of fans. People in Marijampolė are very eager to go to the stadium. I think only "Ekranas" has more fans. In some cities, only a small group of people come to watch their teams' matches.
- Last year, the season did not go well for "Sūduva." This year the team is performing much better. Now you are eight points behind Vilnius "Vėtra" in third place, but the Vilnius team still has to play against "Kauno" and "Ekranas." How do you rate your team's chances of winning the bronze medals?
- We lost points that we shouldn't have lost. I rate the chances of "Vėtra" and "Sūduva" equally now. However, we will need to score the maximum number of points.
Aspiring to climb up
- You are constantly called up to the Lithuanian national team, but you spend very little time on the field. What do you miss the most?
- Experience. If I played more minutes in the national team, I would gain confidence in my abilities, bond with the team. But it's hard to shine when you only run out onto the field for a few minutes. Then you also feel the pressure.
- Would you like to try your luck at a foreign club next season or are you still inclined to play in Lithuania?
- After every season, you want to climb higher. You don't want to stand still.
- Does your contract with "Sūduva" end after the 2005 season?
- Not yet.
