On Friday, 50 European teams were divided into seven pots, from which on January 27 of next year, draws will be made to determine the groups for the teams competing for a spot in the 2008 European Championships in Austria and Switzerland.

Based on the performances in the qualifications for the 2004 European Championship and the 2006 World Championship, it was determined that Lithuania ended up in the fifth pot. This means that they will definitely not be placed in a group with any team from the same pot.

The host countries Austria and Switzerland automatically qualified for the European Championship.

Pot I: Greece, Netherlands, Portugal, England, Czech Republic, France, Sweden;

Pot II: Germany, Croatia, Italy, Turkey, Poland, Spain, Romania;

Pot III: Serbia and Montenegro, Russia, Denmark, Norway, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Slovakia;

Pot IV: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ireland, Belgium, Latvia, Israel, Scotland, Slovenia;

Pot V: Hungary, Finland, Estonia, Wales, Lithuania, Albania, Iceland;

Pot VI: Georgia, Macedonia, Belarus, Armenia, Northern Ireland, Cyprus, Moldova;

Pot VII: Liechtenstein, Azerbaijan, Andorra, Malta, Faroe Islands, Kazakhstan, Luxembourg, San Marino.
