Irish national team defender and Scotland national team goalkeeper extended their contracts until 2009, announced by "Red Devils" head coach Sir Alex Ferguson on Friday.

"We are pleased because it reflects our long-term strategy regarding young players," said Sir A. Ferguson at a press conference. "I believe this strategy is appreciated and supported by the team's fans. Furthermore, it gives us a foundation to work for the next few years."

The coach also added that the twenty-year-old Portuguese player will also extend his contract in the near future.

The 24-year-old J. O'Shea, who debuted in the team in 1999, and the 21-year-old D. Fletcher, who debuted in the UEFA Champions League match against "Basel" in 2003, have made their way into the main "Man Utd" lineup from the club's youth academy.
