On Friday, Arsenal's head coach Arsene Wenger stated that the team is facing "the biggest injury crisis he can remember."
The latest loss for the Gunners is Belarusian national team defender Alexander Hleb, who suffered an injury in last Saturday's match against Scotland. Wenger announced that Hleb, who underwent knee surgery, will be out for up to eight weeks.
The list of injured players also includes defenders Ashley Cole and Sol Campbell, as well as forward Thierry Henry.
Left-back A. Cole may also be out for about two months, as he underwent foot surgery. Wenger suspects that their injuries may be due to the very similar sports shoes worn by P. Senderos, G. Clichy, and A. Cole.
In the match against W.B.A. on Saturday, Robin van Persie and Brazilian Gilberto will also be missing, in addition to the players mentioned above. Gilberto will only return from Brazil on Friday.
