On Saturday, eight matches of the 11th round of the French "Ligue 1" championship were played. Two more matches of this round will be played on Sunday evening.
Over the weekend, the "Auxerre" team achieved a great victory with a score of 3-0 and climbed to fourth place in the standings, having defeated the newcomer "Troyes" at home. Currently, "Auxerre" has 19 points and is only one point behind "Bordeaux" in third place in the standings.
Meanwhile, "Bordeaux" was unable to beat the "Sochaux" team at home on Saturday and played to a 1-1 draw. It's worth noting that the Bordeaux club could have had a worse outcome, as "Sochaux" took the lead in the 29th minute after Jeremy Menezo's goal, but the hosts managed to restore balance in the final minute of the match through Alejandro Alonso.
The "Monaco" team secured a convincing victory, defeating the bottom-of-the-table team "Metz" 3-0 at home. Notably, all three goals for "Monaco" were scored in the 11th minute of the second half. After this victory, the team led by new coach Francesco Guidolin climbed temporarily to sixth place in the "Ligue 1" standings with 17 points.
The newcomer "Nancy" continued their remarkable winning streak by defeating the seasoned "Toulouse" team 2-0 at home, climbing to seventh place in the standings.
It's worth mentioning that there were no red cards shown in any of the eight matches played on Saturday, which is quite unusual for the often rough play and abundance of red cards in the "Ligue 1" championship.
