In the Scottish "Premier" League on Saturday, five out of six matches of the 11th round were played. Championship leader Edinburgh "Hearts" won their ninth victory, while "Hibernian" and "Rangers" secured three points each.
In the match between "Hearts" and "Dunfermline", the temporarily appointed interim coach J. McGlynn decided not to change the starting lineup - E. Jankauskas started the match, while the other two Lithuanians D. Cesnauskis and S. Mikoliunas remained on the bench.
Already in the third minute, the hosts almost took the lead, but R. Skacel's shot hit the crossbar, soon followed by M. Posposilo's and S. Camazzolo's attempts, while the visitors responded with a dangerous long shot by D. Young.
However, in the 21st minute R. Skacel scored - stopping the ball about 20 meters from the goal, he left no chance for "Dunfermline" goalkeeper A. McGregor with a perfect shot. Three minutes later, M. Posposilo doubled the lead after receiving the ball from S. Camazzolo in the penalty area and scoring accurately into the corner of the goal.
Former "Hearts" player M. Burchill missed with a header, while in the 44th minute, after a pass from E. Jankauskas, the goalkeeper managed to direct the ball to the crossbar and keep a glimmer of hope for his team.
In the 70th minute, after a substitution, D. Cesnauskis entered the field and made a beautiful left-footed shot, but the ball flew just wide of the goal, and shortly after R. Skacel's attempt was also imprecise. The score remained unchanged, but in the penultimate minute the "Hearts" captain S. Pressley received a red card.
Seven points behind their city rivals, another Edinburgh club "Hibernian" secured a narrow victory over "Aberdeen" on the opponent's field and achieved their fourth consecutive away win. In fourth place remains defending champions Glasgow "Rangers", who won 2-0 at home against "Motherwell".
In other matches of the day, "Dundee United" won away against "Falkirk", while the absolute underdog "Livingston" played a draw at home with "Inverness". In the last match of the round on Sunday, second-placed Glasgow "Celtic" will face "Kilmarnock".
