After Hearts' victory on Saturday, the gap between the teams increased to six points, so Celtic, in order not to fall behind by more than one step, had to beat Kilmarnock, who were in fifth place, at the opponents' field.
At the start of the match, both teams struggled to create anything dangerous, and the guests only took the lead thanks to the excellent game of Bulgarian S. Petrov - the Glasgow team's midfielder received a pass near the penalty area from C. Sutton and cleverly passed the ball past goalkeeper G. Smith.
In the second half, Kilmarnock started more actively, but Celtic countered dangerously. C. Beattie was close to scoring the second goal, but after a pass from S. Nakamura from the edge, his header hit the crossbar. Soon after, a shot from the young Celtic striker went wide, and later the goalkeeper stopped his attempt to score.
With an hour played, the home team almost leveled the score, but K. Boyd's shot was slightly off target. At the end of the match, Celtic failed to capitalize on opportunities to increase their lead, and the result remained unchanged - Glasgow Celtic still trailing Hearts by three points.
