Edinburgh owner Vladimir Romanov, speaking to the media, rejected the possibility that another Lithuanian, Valdas Ivanauskas, could take up the vacant coaching position.
The former head coach of "FBK Kaunas," now an assistant to Algimantas Liubinskas in the Lithuanian national team, was named by experts as one of the favorites to replace the unexpectedly departed George Burley.
However, V. Romanov stated that the club will not rush to announce a new coach, adding that it will be a "well-known specialist capable of raising the leaders of the Scottish championship to an even higher level."
While it is claimed that G. Burley left the team due to disagreements with V. Romanov, the Lithuanian businessman publicly thanked the former coach for his work: "I want to thank G. Burley for his contribution over those four months."
"But we do not give up our goals: constantly delighting Edinburgh fans with Scottish championship titles and solid performances in the UEFA Champions League," stated V. Romanov, who recently increased his ownership stake in "Hearts" to 55.5% and made an offer to buy the remaining shares.
"I would also like to deny that Valdas Ivanauskas could become the coach," continued V. Romanov. "He worked in the club as an assistant coach and can continue to do so if it satisfies the new coach."
The most realistic candidates to take up the vacant coaching position at "Hearts" are considered to be 72-year-old Sir Bobby Robson, who previously coached "Newcastle," and former "Parma" strategist Nevio Scala.
