On Wednesday, the Moroccan Football Federation officially announced that the new national team coach is the Frenchman Philippe Troussier. He has signed a contract with the Moroccan Football Federation, which will end after the 2010 World Cup.
A representative of the Federation stated that P. Troussier's salary will be 50,000 euros per month plus bonuses.
The fifty-year-old P. Troussier, whose last job was as coach of "Marseille," will replace Badou Zaki at the helm of the Moroccan national team. Zaki resigned from the Moroccan national team after failing to qualify for the 2006 World Cup in Germany.
P. Troussier is nicknamed the "White Sorcerer" due to his success working with national teams of African countries - Ivory Coast, Nigeria, and South Africa. Throughout his career, P. Troussier has also coached the national teams of Japan, Qatar, and his native France.
During the 1998 and 2002 World Cups, he coached the national teams of South Africa and Japan, respectively.
P. Troussier will lead a team mainly composed of players who play in France. His first serious test as the head coach of the Moroccan national team will be at the African Nations Cup next year.
