Round 11: the first "Schalke" failure © EuroFootball.com

On Saturday, seven matches of the eleventh round were played in the German Bundesliga, after which there were no more unbeaten teams in the league. Up to that point, the "Schalke" team, who had been playing without failures in the national championship, lost to the "Hamburger" footballers away and thus ended their ten-game unbeaten streak.

The end of the match between "Hamburger" and "Schalke" was determined by the only goal from the Iranian defender M.Mahdavikia in the 19th minute. It is worth mentioning that from the 62nd minute, "Schalke" had to fight with ten players, as C.Poulsen was sent off for a second yellow card. By the way, this was already the second failure in a row for "Schalke" - in the middle of the week, the Gelsenkirchen team shamefully lost 0-6 away to the "Eintracht" club and withdrew from the German Cup competition.

Meanwhile, the "Hamburger" team successfully advanced to the second round of the cup and in the third round will face the cup winners and Bundesliga champions, the "Bayern" footballers. This Saturday, the Munich team, after a tough battle, managed to defeat the resistance of "Koln" and secured their ninth victory in the national championship. The goals for the "Bavarians" were scored by the Brazilian Lucio and the team leader M.Ballack.

The "Bayern" club continues to be the leaders of the league, two points ahead of the "Werder" team, who crushed the recently upward "Eintracht" club 4-1 in this round. The Bremen footballers had to chase their opponents after "Eintracht" player I.Amanatidis put his team ahead in the 19th minute. However, "Werder" didn't falter and equalized before half-time, scoring three more goals in the second half and not giving any hope to the visitors from Frankfurt.

The successful game of "Stuttgart" is probably no longer surprising - this time the club, which at the beginning of the season was considered one of the most serious contenders for the title, played a 3-3 draw at home against the "Hertha" team. After these draws, "Hertha" occupies the sixth place, while "Stuttgart" is in ninth.

The league's underdogs, "Duisburg," achieved an unexpected victory at home, beating "Wolfsburg" with a minimal margin. The only goal for the "Duisburg" club after a precise combination was scored by A.Bugera. After this win, the league newcomers moved up to fifteenth place, but they can still be overtaken by the "Mainz" and "Nurnberg" clubs, who will play their round matches on Sunday.
