On Sunday, eight matches of the 10th round of the Spanish Championship were played. Last year's champion "Barcelona" is gaining momentum - this time the Catalan club thrashed "Real Sociedad" 5-0, with Brazilian Ronaldinho shining in the ranks of the Catalan superclub.

It was the Brazilian national team star who created the first goal, making a decisive pass to the Dutchman Mark van Bommel. Later, Ronaldinho scored two more times - once with a long-range shot and the second time from the penalty spot. After the goal, defender Carles Puyol and Swedish forward Henrik Larsson added to the overwhelming victory.

Starting the season impressively and being the leader of the Spanish Championship was "Getafe" from Madrid, who suffered their second consecutive defeat, this time losing narrowly to "Deportivo" in La Coruna. In a tough match, Diego Tristan scored the only goal after a high pass from Spanish national team defender Joan Capdevila. Towards the end of the game, "Getafe" had the chance to equalize, but Sergio Pachon's shot hit the crossbar.

An important victory was secured by Pamplona's "Osasuna," defeating Barcelona's "Espanyol" 2-0 and climbing to the top of the league table. "Espanyol" goalkeeper Carlos Kameni will want to forget this match, as both goals were scored due to his mistakes.

"Mallorca" faced a tough time at home against "Sevilla," drawing the match 1-1. Although the hosts took the lead when Victor directed a cross into the goal, they were soon reduced to ten men, and "Sevilla" forward Kepa equalized. In the second half, the visitors had many chances to snatch the victory but failed to capitalize.

"Zaragoza" managed to salvage a draw against "Malaga" after blowing their lead and settling for a 1-1 draw. Despite goalkeeper Cani stealing the ball from "Malaga" defender Vicente Valcarce and delivering a successful pass to Brazilian Ewerthon, the result was eventually leveled by a long-range shot from Portuguese player Edgar.

Some miraculous saves were made by "Racing Santander" goalkeeper Dudu Aouate in the match against "Valencia." Although the "Valencia" captain put his team ahead with a great long-range shot, former "Real" forward David Aganzo equalized soon after. Despite a late red card for the "Racing Santander" defender Felipe Melo, the team managed to maintain the draw.

Meanwhile, the rather dull match between "Cadiz" and "Alaves" ended goalless.

The last match of Sunday's round in Madrid between "Atletico" and "Villarreal" ended in a dramatic 1-1 draw. Although the hosts led for most of the match after Jose Zahinos scored in the 5th minute, "Villarreal" defender Julian Rodriguez was shown a red card in the 16th minute. However, in the final moments of the match, "Atletico" defender Peter Luccin was sent off for a second yellow card, and in the 4th minute of added time, the levelling goal was scored by the most prolific player of the previous season's "La Liga," Uruguayan Diego Forlan.
