On Sunday in the German football championship, the remaining two matches of the eleventh round were played. Both matches were won decisively by the home teams.
In the clash of outsiders between "Mainz" and "Nurnberg," the victory with a score of 4-1 was achieved by the "Mainz" team, moving them up to the thirteenth position in the tournament table. The hosts scored the first goal, after the 9th minute when "Nurnberg" defender N. Paulus scored an own goal. Just a few minutes later, B. Auer doubled the lead, but "Nurnberg" didn't give up and, after three minutes, S. Kiessling reduced the deficit. However, that was all the visitors from Nurnberg could achieve in this match. Later on, "Mainz" scored two more goals and finally broke the resistance of the visitors.
In the other match, "Arminia" at home beat the "Hannover" team by the same score of 4-1. The Belefield team took the lead just 48 seconds into the match when M. Fink sent the ball into R. Enke's goal. About an hour into the game, the second goal was scored - "Arminia" striker from South Africa S. Zuma found himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper after a precise combination and doubled the lead. In the 55th minute, the "Hannover" players managed to reduce the difference, but that only temporarily stopped the "Arminia" team - at the end of the match, the home player I. Boakye defeated R. Enke twice and sealed the victory for the hosts. This was the fourth win for the Belefield team this season, moving them up to the ninth position in the league.
