On Tuesday, the head coach Guus Hiddink, who silenced all critics and defeated the "Milan" club at home, was very satisfied with Eindhoven's "PSV."
The Eindhoven club broke through in the 12th minute on their turf, when young forward Jefferson Farfanas took advantage of a mistake by Georgian Kakha Kaladze and headed the ball past goalkeeper Dida from about eight meters away.
"These points are unexpected," G. Hiddink said after the match. "If you win a point against 'Milan' - you can be happy, but three points are simply amazing. The team has proven to know what football is in Europe."
The best European player of last year, Ukrainian Andriy Shevchenko, started on the bench due to a shin injury suffered in the duel in Eindhoven, so G. Hiddink decided to play with three defenders, as there were doubts about M. Reiziger's readiness for the match.
The coach of "Milan," Carlo Ancelotti, said: "Their tactics did not surprise me - they played exactly as I expected. Now we have two very difficult games ahead of us."
After this victory, "PSV" is leading Group E with seven points, while "Milan" and Schalke from Gelsenkirchen, who beat Istanbul's Fenerbahce 2-0 on Tuesday, are in second and third place with two points less, respectively, with the Turkish team at the bottom of the group with four points.
