Brussels' striker Nenad Jestrovic has been given a three-match ban in UEFA-organized tournaments for racism during last week's UEFA Champions League match against Liverpool.
In that match, N. Jestrovic was sent off the field by referee Kim Milton Nielsen from Denmark after racially insulting black Liverpool defender Mohammed Sissoko.
N. Jestrovic himself decided not to appeal, but claimed he was innocent: "I accept the punishment, but I lost - I said one thing, and the referee heard another. I am not a racist, but it seemed that way to the referee."
The 29-year-old Serbian will have to miss the remaining UEFA Champions League matches against London's Chelsea and Seville's Real Betis, as well as one more UEFA tournament match, likely next year's UEFA Champions League qualifying round match.
