The Mexican club "Guadalajara" has confirmed that from now on, 16-year-old forward Carlos Vela belongs to the London club.

On Wednesday, C. Vela's father told the media that his son had long intended to move to England, and now "Guadalajara" has agreed to this deal. "It's official - Carlos Vela is now an "Arsenal" player," the club statement said.

C. Vela, whose five goals helped Mexico triumph in the recent youth (up to 17 years old) World Cup, has signed a five-year, £2 million contract with "Arsenal". According to the agreement, C. Vela will play for the Spanish club "Valencia" until he turns 18 and receives permission to work in Great Britain.

"Arsenal" officials said they intend to loan him to another club to improve his skills before his debut in the Premier League. C. Vela will belong to the London club for five years. If the Gunners decide to sell him, the right of first refusal will belong to the "Guadalajara" team," said "Guadalajara" vice president Nestor De La Torre.

Carlos Vela follows in the footsteps of one of Mexico's best footballers, Jared Borgetti - this year, the Mexican made his debut for "Bolton", a team in the Premier League.
