The fate of the Colombian national team and striker Juan Pablo Angel at the club will be decided after this football season has ended.
The 28-year-old footballer, who has already scored 20 goals this season, has a contract with the club that expires in 15 months.
"Aston Villa" is currently in seventh place in the English league table and is aiming to participate in the UEFA Cup next year. J.P. Angel says that this is precisely the reason why he would like to extend his contract for a longer period of time.
The striker, who cost £9.5 million (approximately 49 million litas), said: "There's a lot of talk about me now, because I practically only have a year left to play for this club."
"Now I really want to concentrate and successfully finish this season. This is helped by my coach, with whom I get along well."
"I like his work style, and at the end of the season we will see what I and my club have achieved with this coach," the Colombian said.
"Aston Villa" manager David O'Leary hopes that Angel and Nolberto Solano will be able to represent the club in matches with the national teams of their respective countries in the 2006 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches in the South American zone before these matches.
