Attacking midfielder Zlatan Ibrahimovic was chosen as the best Swedish football player of 2005 and awarded the "Golden Ball".

The 24-year-old striker of Serbian descent, who did not attend the ceremony in Stockholm, was one of the main players last season, helping Juventus become Italian champions by scoring 16 goals.

He was also the leader of the Swedish national team in the qualifying matches for the 2006 World Cup in Germany, scoring eight goals and helping Sweden secure a spot.

Striker Henrik Larsson was awarded the "Golden Ball" for the best Swedish player of all time. The title was given to the striker after winning a fan poll, surpassing past greats such as Gunnar Nordahl, Ralf Edstrom, and Tomas Brolin.
