In football circles, the Brazilian player Cicinho has been called the Madrid player for some time now and this Wednesday he will receive Italian citizenship.
The 25-year-old Brazilian national team player's lawyer arranged documents proving that Cicinho's ancestors were Italians, so Cicinho will sign the necessary documents on Wednesday and swear on the constitution of this European Union country.
Cicinho himself purchased a house in one of the Italian villages, but it is unlikely that he will live there, as this January he should officially transfer from "Sao Paulo" to "Real" Madrid.
Cicinho, who plays on the right side of defense, represented the Brazilian national team at the Confederations Cup held last summer.
Meanwhile, the Spanish football newspaper "Marca" claims that a left-back from London should move to the Royal club next summer for a relatively small sum of 12 million euros. The newspaper claims that Roberto Carlos' substitute, called A. Cole, has a clause in his contract that allows him to leave the London club precisely for this amount.
The English media constantly reports conflicts between A. Cole and the Arsenal strategist Arsene Wenger. Disagreements began when the English media publicly announced secret and improper negotiations between A. Cole and Chelsea.
However, if "Real" fails to attract the English defender, "Marca" names another candidate to replace the Brazilian Roberto Carlos. This could be the Brazilian with Italian citizenship, whose contract with the Spanish champions and UEFA Cup winners from 2004 expires on June 30.
