Former French national team defender Marcel Desailly wants to return to play in the English Premier League. According to unofficial sources, the 37-year-old veteran may soon be signing with a team.
Desailly represented the team until July 2004, but then the new club coach from Portugal, Jose Mourinho, decided to part ways with the player. The defender then left to play in Qatar, where many football stars from the older generation currently base themselves.
However, last week Desailly left the "Al-Ittihad" team, with which he became champion of Qatar. The main reason cited by the Frenchman was that his family could not adapt to the unusual life in the Middle Eastern country.
"I am a player with a lot of experience, which would be useful to any European team," Desailly listed his advantages. "England will be my first choice if I decide to continue my career."
The footballer also added that he feels a great loyalty to the Chelsea team, which somewhat diminishes the Frenchman's chances of returning to professional sports.
