On Saturday, eight matches of the 15th round of the French football championship "Ligue 1" were played. The remaining two matches will be played on Sunday evening.
The current champions title contender "Lyon" club secured another victory. This time, Lyon footballers at home defeated the newcomer "Troyes" 2-1 after two goals by defender Cris.
Unexpectedly, the third-placed "Saint-Etienne" team suffered a defeat and lost their position to "Monaco." Monaco took the lead in the 54th minute with a goal by Camel Meriem. After this victory, Monaco moved up to 5th place in the standings, tying in points with "Saint-Etienne."
Seizing the slip-up of the latter team, the "Auxerre" club rose to third place, defeating "Lille" 3-2 at home after a very intense battle. Luigi Pieroni scored two goals for the winners.
Two more steps up the tournament table were made by the "Marseille" club, who won 2-1 at home against the "Nantes" team. The latter dropped two positions down from 11th to 13th place.
