As expected, after a disappointing start to the season in the English Championship, the club dismissed the strategist Alain Perrin from the position of head coach. He had been in charge of the team for eight months and has now become the first coach to lose his job in England this season.
The 49-year-old specialist from France, A. Perrin, came to Portsmouth in April and managed to help the team secure a place in the Premier League. However, this season the team struggled to find their game, only managing to secure two victories in the first 13 matches, placing the club in 17th position in the standings, just one position above the relegation zone.
After a defeat against Liverpool on Saturday, it seemed that the club's president, the Serb Milan Mandarić, was ready to dismiss the coach, but he later had a sudden change of heart because, allegedly, several experienced players spoke in favor of the coach.
Nevertheless, it was eventually decided to part ways with the Frenchman, who became the eighth coach to leave the position of head coach at Portsmouth after the Serbian magnate M. Mandarić took over as club chairman in 1999.
Now the team will be temporarily coached by Joe Jordan, who will lead Portsmouth in the upcoming match against the league leaders, Chelsea. The main candidates to fill the vacant position are named as Neil Warnock, the coach of Sheffield United, and the former Hearts coach George Burley.
