On Sunday, the remaining three matches of the 16th round of the French "Ligue 1" championship were played. It is worth mentioning that more goals were scored in these matches than in the previous ones of this round - in total, the teams playing on Sunday managed to score a total of 17 goals.
Perhaps the most interesting match took place in Paris, where local "P.S.G" hosted the "Lens" club, which was in ninth place. The first goal of the match did not take long to arrive - already in the first minute, Olivier Thomertas put "Lens" ahead. Just four minutes later, the second goal of the match was scored - the most prolific player of this season's league, Pedro Pauleta, equalized the score.
However, "P.S.G" failed to maintain the lead and in the 33rd minute, Aruna Dindane put "Lens" ahead again. As the first half was coming to an end, the situation for "P.S.G" became even more complicated, as in the 41st minute "Lens" sent another ball into the hosts' goal - this time it was done by Jussie Ferreira.
In the 70th minute, the situation for the hosts became tragic, as Aruna Dindane managed to defeat the opponents' goalkeeper for the second time in this match. Although later the score was softened by Pedro Pauleta, who also scored for the second time, and in extra time, a goal was also scored by Mario Yepes, who has been demonstrating great form lately, however, "P.S.G" did not have enough to avoid defeat in front of their fans.
The same result ended the match in Nantes, where the local "Nantes" hosted the "Strasbourg" players. In this match, "Strasbourg" took the lead first and after the first half, they were leading 2-0. However, after the break, "Nantes" managed to send the ball into the "Strasbourg" goal three times in just over ten minutes and although the latter managed to score again, a precise goal by Frederico Da Rocha in the last minute determined the victory for the hosts.
The central Sunday duel took place in Marseille, where the local "Marseille" met with the "Monaco" eleven. The guests, the "Monaco" players, were the first to take the lead - in the 20th minute, Camel Meriem sent the ball into the hosts' goal. However, "Marseille" recovered after conceding a goal and in the second half, they managed to equalize the score, when Wilson Oruma's shot in the 64th minute found its way into the "Monaco" goal. Twelve minutes later, the entire Stade Velodrome stadium erupted in celebration, as experienced Sabri Lamouchi sent another ball into the visitors' goal and secured a 2-1 victory for his team.
