The goalkeeper of the Spanish national team Iker Casillas on Wednesday extended his contract with Madrid for another five years and stated that he would like to end his career within the ranks of the nine-time European champions.

Casillas' contract with the Royal club was set to expire in June 2006, and recently there have been rumors about the Spaniard's negotiations with "Man Utd" and even with their fiercest rival "Barcelona."

According to the newly signed contract, one of the best goalkeepers in the world, Iker Casillas, will remain at the Royal club until 2011.

"Today is a very happy day for me," said the 24-year-old goalkeeper at a press conference. "As my new contract nears its end, I would like to extend it until 2016 or 2017. I grew up here, so I would also like to 'die' here, in terms of my career."
