It is announced that the team participating in the Champions League has agreed on the transfer of forward Florent Sinama-Pongolle to a Spanish club. However, the Frenchman may not leave to play for the team currently occupying the second-to-last place in La Liga.
Real Betis is actively looking to acquire at least one capable forward during this January transfer window, as several key players in that position are sidelined due to injuries. The team's top scorer suffered a serious knee injury and will miss the rest of the season, while another key player, who had a successful start to the season, will be out for at least a month due to the same reason.
Lately, the team has been relying on Brazilian Edu in the attacking line, whose primary position is in midfield. It is no wonder that Real Betis has only scored 9 goals in the first thirteen rounds of the national championship.
In January, the team's coaches will have to decide whether to acquire 21-year-old F.S. Pongolle or take the chance to attract Portuguese national team forward Helder Postiga, who has not yet established himself at the club. Negotiations with the Portuguese vice-champions have also been concluded, so it will be up to Betis coach Lorenzo Serra Ferrer to choose the player.
