On Saturday, eight matches of the 15th round were played in the English Premier League. After them, the leader did not change, but the teams below continue their fierce battle for prize places.
An important victory was achieved by the increasingly successful Liverpool club. The team, which until recently was in the second half of the table, defeated the long-standing second-placed Wigan 3-0 and climbed to third place in the league table. Liverpool fans should be even more pleased by the fact that in this match, newcomer Peter Crouch scored his first goal, after not being able to score even after spending about 24 hours on the field.
The strongest European club, Chelsea, did not allow the second-placed Manchester United team to rise. Alex Ferguson's team easily defeated Portsmouth 3-0 at home and maintained the second position.
Meanwhile, the reigning champions, Chelsea, achieved a victory with a minimal result. John Terry's goal helped Roman Abramovich's team win three points in the match against Middlesbrough. On the other hand, Arsenal suffered their fourth defeat of the season. The former unbeaten champions were beaten 2-0 by Bolton this time.
