Today the remaining matches of the 14th round of the Italian championship were played. The championship leader Turin's "Juventus" won a crucial victory in a fierce battle against "Fiorentina", who are in fourth place. Victories were also celebrated by "Lazio", "Reggina", "Sampdoria", and "Livorno", who moved up to fifth place. In the most attention-grabbing match of the 14th round, "Juventus" faced "Fiorentina" on the guests' turf, with whom they also played in the middle of the week in the Italian cup quarter-finals. Back then, the match was interrupted in the second half due to tear gas spread in the stadium, ending in a 2-2 draw. This time, just six minutes into the game, "Fiorentina" came very close to scoring, but L.Toni's header hit the crossbar, and the first goal of the match was scored just two minutes later - after a pass from Z.Ibrahimovič, "Juventus" forward D.Trezeguet sent the ball into the net and put his team ahead. However, "Fiorentina" started attacking the visitors' goal aggressively, and although T.Ujfaluši's long-range shot hit the crossbar, the fortune smiled on them in the 40th minute when the team's forward G.Pazzini hit the back of the net with a header. The first half ended with a score of 1-1. After the break, both teams stepped up their offensive efforts. In the 75th minute, "Fiorentina" attacker L.Toni broke through alone against the goalkeeper and shot the ball towards the empty goal, but luck was not on Fiorentina's side, as the ball hit the post again. The hosts paid dearly for this missed opportunity, as in the 88th minute, "Juventus" defender M.Camoranesi took advantage of a defensive mistake by the opponents and scored his team's second goal, securing three points for the Turin club. In other matches, Rome's "Lazio" continued their successful home game streak and secured a 3-2 victory at home against the "Siena" club. The hosts dominated the first half, and just before the end of the first half, Rome's club veteran P.Di Canio scored a goal after a loose ball, bringing his team ahead. Eight minutes into the second half, the away team's player E.Bogdani equalized with a header, but "Lazio" continued to attack, and defender C.Rodriguez's precise shot into the far top corner once again put his team ahead. In the 80th minute, after the opponents' defenders made a mistake, "Lazio" sealed the victory with a goal from I.Tare. However, "Siena" managed to reduce the gap when their goalkeeper A.Peruzzi put the ball into his team's net during extra time, but it was too late. Looking to secure a place in the European tournament, Genoa's "Sampdoria" achieved a solid victory at home, defeating the "Empoli" team 2-0. The hosts dominated throughout the match but were only able to secure the victory towards the end of the game. In the 78th minute, M.Borriello scored the first goal for "Sampdoria". Eight minutes later, the team secured the win with a goal from F.Flachi. Continuing to surprise everyone, "Livorno" - the Tuscan club - beat the "Udinese" team 2-0 away. The first goal was scored thanks to a foolish mistake by the home team's defender C.Obodo - the player slipped while trying to clear the ball from the penalty area and sent it into his own net. "Udinese" tried to equalize, but in the 73rd minute, "Livorno" leader C.Lucarelli headed the ball into the net, solidifying a two-goal lead. The match ended 2-0. "Falling into the pit" of the bottom teams, "Palermo" once again failed to win against the team at the bottom of the table, unexpectedly playing a 2-2 draw at home against the "Cagliari" club. Although the result was 2-0 in favor of the hosts in the 22nd minute, "Cagliari" did not give up and managed to score two goals in the second half, taking one point home. Another setback was faced by "Parma" - this time, they had to admit defeat away with a score of 2-1 against the "Reggina" team. The hosts took the lead in the 9th minute with a goal from F.Cozza, but four minutes later, "Parma" equalized - G.Cardone, the team's forward, scored a goal. However, "Reggina" struck again in the 21st minute with G.De Rosa's goal, which turned out to be the last goal of the match, securing "Reggina" an eleventh win. In the battle of the outsiders between "Treviso" and "Messina", neither team managed to score goals, and the match ended with a goalless draw. In the last round of matches, "Roma" played a 2-2 draw away against the "Lecce" club. The capital team managed to build a two-goal lead in the first half thanks to goals from A.Cassano and S.Nonda, but they relaxed too much at the start of the second half and were punished. The hosts scored two goals and leveled the score, with the match ending unfavorably for the "Roma" club.
