17th round: "P.S.G" failure in Lyon © EuroFootball.com

Over the weekend, the 17th round of matches in the French "Ligue 1" championship took place, after which the situation inside the standings remains unchanged.

In the championship, the "Lyon" club, seeking its fifth consecutive title, continues to confidently lead this season without stumbling once. This time, the Lyon team defeated Paris "P.S.G" 2-0 at home. The hosts took the lead in the 5th minute of the match when Brazilian legionnaire Fred scored a goal. At the end of the match, another Lyon forward, Norwegian John Carew, scored the second goal against "P.S.G".

"Auxerre" club continues to hold the second place in the standings with a successful series of matches, this time securing a 4-0 victory at home against "Nantes". The victors scored two goals, with Peguy Luyindula among the scorers.

The third position is maintained by the "Bordeaux" club, who snatched a minimal victory at home against "Lille" in the dying minutes of the match with a 1-0 result. The only goal of the match was scored by Fernando in the 82nd minute.

Seizing the fifth position due to the misfortune of "P.S.G", the seemingly recovering "Monaco" club finally climbed up. "Monaco" won 2-0 against "Le Mans" at their stadium and now have 27 points in their account.
