One of the leaders of the team fighting for survival in the top tier of Italy for the second season in a row received a five-game suspension for an altercation during a match against the opponent.
Currently occupying the third place from the bottom of the table in Serie A, Parma started this season even more unsuccessfully than the previous one, having only obtained 9 points in 14 matches played. On Sunday, the team suffered its seventh consecutive defeat away to Reggina, but the problems of the club, which once fought for top spots in the league, have not ended.
In the seventh match against Reggina, in the minute Carlos Paredes from the home team fouled D. Morfeo, who then lost control and hit his opponent in the head with his hand, later cursing the referee. For this, the league's disciplinary committee punished him with a five-game suspension.
It is expected that Parma will appeal to either cancel or reduce the punishment, but if not granted, the former Inter and Fiorentina player will miss matches against Sampdoria, Siena, Cagliari, Milan, and Lazio, only being able to play again on January 18th, just two days after his 30th birthday.
